The second part of the latest season of Bridgerton has dropped, and the sapphics are going absolutely feral for 'Franchaela'.
This may contain spoilers for Bridgerton season four part two.
The hit Netflix regency-era show, based on Julia Quinn’s romance novels , premiered the first part of its fourth season on 29 January while the second half of the series released today (26 February).
Each season of the show follows a different member of the titular Bridgerton family as they find true love amid the Ton's bustling London season, filled with glamorous balls and romantic tension.
Season four focuses on the Cinderella-inspired love story of second eldest Bridgerton son and queer icon Benedict ( Luke Thompson ) and Sophie Baek (Yerin Ha).
The previous season saw Benedict explore his pansexuality when he entered into a polyamorous ménage à trois with both Lady Tilley Arnold (Hannah New) and Paul Suarez (Lucas Aurelio).
Although Benedict and Sophie are the main love story this time around, queer fans have been keeping a keen eye on his younger sibling Francesca (Hannah Dodd) – who recently tied the knot with Sir John Stirling (Victor Alli) – and her relationship with her husband's cousin, Michaela (Masali Baduza).
At the end of the last season, fans of Quinn's original books were quick to point out that female character Michaela is a gender swapped version of the character Michael from the book When He Was Wicked.
In that book, after John dies, Francesca falls in love with Michael.
Sapphics promptly lost their mind at the idea of a queer Francesca, who was previously speculated to be asexual , with Bridgerton showrunner Jess Brownwell later confirming that a queer love story for Francesca was coming to the show .
Fans have affectionately dubbed the Francesca-Michaela pairing with the shipping portmanteau 'Franchaela'.
Dodd, herself, has made clear she is fully on-board with the Franchaela train and has even called for the show – which is well-known for adapting modern pop tracks into instrumental covers – to bring Chappell Roan's compulsory heterosexuality pop-bop “Good Luck Babe!” in for Francesca.
Just a few hours after the second part of season four landed, sapphic social media was awash with Franchaela content, with fans declaring that after the crumbs of the first part they have been given a whole, damn yuri meal.
"MY FRANCHAELA HEART EXPLODED," one X user wrote of the second part of the season.
"THEY ARE SO BUZZY," another wrote.
"Michaela fell first, but Francesca will fall OH so much harder," a third predicted.
