Hocus Pocus 2 first trailer reveals return of the Sanderson Sisters and fans are under a spell
Disney has unleashed the official first trailer for the long-awaited Hocus Pocus 2.
Sarah Jessica Parker, Bette Midler and Kathy Najimy return as the Sanderson sisters in the 80-second trailer, which comes almost 30 years after the release of the first film.
"This Halloween season, some legends never die," Disney tweeted .
It also confirmed the release date for Hocus Pocus 2. The film will arrive on 30 September – just in time for Halloween month.

As well as the teaser trailer, Disney also revealed the official Hocus Pocus 2 poster, with the tagline: "We're back, Witches".

Naturally, social media users have gone into a euphoric frenzy, with fans of the 1993 original already desperate for more tidbits to tide them over until September.

Some fans noted a subtle rainbow sheen across the Sanderson Sisters in the poster, with one saying: "This poster says gay rights".

One user got poetic over the trailer, tweeting: "It's been thirty years / Right down to the day / Now the witch is back! / And there's hell to pay!"

Due to the decades-long gap between Hocus Pocus 2 and the original, some fans were left in disbelief, concerned that the trailer is a fake.

Hocus Pocus 2 was announced back in in 2019, after years of speculation.
As with any news of a sequel, skepticism has followed since the announcement was first made, with some concerned that it'll take away from the magic of the original.
However, even those skeptical about the upcoming second film appear to have been won over by the teaser trailer.

As well as the original Sanderson Sisters, it's been confirmed that the sequel will star Drag Race queen Ginger Minj as a drag version of Midler's Winifred .
Fellow alumni Kornbread 'The Snack' Jete and Kahmora Hall were later cast as drag versions of Mary (Najimy) and Sarah (Parker).
Hocus Pocus 2 will be released Disney+ on 30 September, 2022.
