BBC News has captioned a woman as ‘lesbian’.
The broadcaster used the caption last month , to describe activist Anastasia Lopez, in a story about a protest outside a Vienna cafe.
Ms Lopez, 19, was made to leave Café Prückel for kissing her girlfriend Eva Prewein , after their waiter refused to serve them.
The pair later attended a ‘kiss-in’ protest outside the cafe , when the BBC filmed her speaking on stage.
It’s not the most bizarre caption ever used on BBC News – with Irish drag artist Rory O’Neill (Panti Bliss) referred to as a ‘gender discombobulist’ at his own request last year.
However, the prize for most superfluous caption goes to Bounce, a helpfully labelled dog who appeared on BBC News today.
Bounce was appearing after a study found that dogs can tell the difference between happy and angry faces.
